Sculptra is a synthetic injectable material known as ‘poly-L-lactic acid’. Poly-L-lactic acid, material found in dissolvable suture material, does not harm the body and is able to be absorbed naturally. It is fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Sculptra is injected below the surface of the skin, under the metatarsal bones, to make up for fat pad loss. Once injected, you will see results in 3-6 weeks, allowing many patients to walk barefoot again. Sculptra has also been used in the treatment of recurrent, diabetic ulcers.
